Keepsake Chest: "Odin Allfather"; Laser-Engraved Box, Nordic-themed Artwork, Handcrafted Wooden Chest w/ magnetic lid & velvet interior

Odin, the leader of the Æsir and ruler of Asgard, is a widely respected deity in Norse mythology. He rules over the other gods of the realm, some of whom are his offspring and kin. Odin figures prominently in the recorded history of Northern Europe, and thereby has hundreds of names and titles in various languages and dialects. The Allfather is relentless in his pursuit of knowledge and wisdom, and is willing to sacrifice almost anything to attain more. His missing eye attests to this determination, a sacrifice he made at Mimir's Well in exchange for more wisdom. The tale of how Odin discovered the runes of the Elder Futhark is another example of his unquenchable thirst for understanding the mysteries of life, not to mention his unstoppable will.

From the poem Hávamál (translated by B. Thorpe):
"I know that I hung on a wind-rocked tree,
nine whole nights,
with a spear wounded, and to Odin offered,
myself to myself;
on that tree, of which no one knows
from what root it springs.
Bread no one gave me, nor a horn of drink,
downward I peered,
to runes applied myself, wailing learnt them,
then fell down thence."

Created from 1/8-inch birch plywood, with high resolution laser engraved artwork and a dual staining process for an extra level of detail. Due to the manner of its construction, this chest is very resilient and durable, with double layers at important structural points and bracing that also lends greatly to its appearance. The chest also features a velvet-lined interior and magnets which keep the lid securely closed. This chest is constructed to last many generations and hold many valuables, whether literal or sentimental, over the years.
