"Rúnberi", meaning "Runebearer" in Old Norse, is a spectacularly designed and thematic version of the ancient game of backgammon. The exterior is adorned with a representation of Yggdrasil, the world tree, its roots entwined amongst the frame of the case, surrounded by various runes, glyphs, and symbols to convey a magical, mystic theme. Acrylic gems are inlaid within the frame for a colorful accent and a refined sense of material diversity. The interior playing area is engraved with detailed zoomorphic points, surrounded by more mystical glyphs around the edges and the layered checker nests. The included checkers are engraved and cut from 1/4-inch material; each emblazoned with a rune from the Younger Futhark (16 checkers per player are included, each set with a drawstring bag that stores easily within the folded case). Move the runes around the knotwork zoomorphic points of the board into your home quadrant, then be the first to bear the runes off the board to win! Holiday ordering
During the Christmas holiday season, I can quickly become VERY busy; typically putting in 12 hour days in order to make holiday shipping deadlines.
Please plan ahead - I begin taking Christmas orders in late August, but due to workload, I will close the shop to further made-to-order requests the first week of December. Ready to ship items remain listed and ship as stated in their listing.
